//''hi its sam''// - Janus greets you with a double-edged grin. One set of lips quirk up, the other quirks down, and two doors appear. The one on the left is built from teakwood, painted with a dark resin so you can //almost// see your reflection. The one on the right is clear, thick glass that warps the passage beyond it. It looks to be dimly lit, but you cannot make out much more than that. "Make your choice," Janus tells you, and his eyes sparkle with a bemused hunger. "And do not look back." Which do you choose? The light from behind the glass draws you in. With a nervous glance at the two-headed god, you swallow and duck into the passageway. The door creaks as it opens, and then again when it closes. There is no doorknob from this side, and when you push against the glass it stands firm. Your surroundings are brushed in a golden haze, but even when you squint you cannot see the source of light. The walls seem to narrow the further you look, and these off-white bricks give off a scent you recognize from the old museum archives - leather book covers, wrinkled pages, spines worn down. You turn around. The hall you came through is no longer there, and rather all that is left is a void. The floor you stand on seems to dissolve with no pretense, as if it is cut from the same onyx cloth. There is a piercing pain in your abdomen. You glance down, and there is red seeping through the fabric of your shirt. The void takes its time with you, first with the edges of your eyesight and then it creeps into the rest of your senses. You reach for the teakwood door. Your fingers grasp at the doorknob and you find that it is covered in a sheen of...something, but the only reaction you get is a hyena howl from Janus. You swallow, and push forward. There is little to be heard over the din of your own heartbeat, and when the door is slammed shut you are plunged into darkness. You turn and try the doorknob. It's locked. [[FORWARD]]
